What changes after delivery
Right now
- You send invoices by hand, or lose sales to a clunky payment link.
- You followed a tutorial, but paid orders do not always show up in your app.
- You are not sure the setup is secure, or what happens when a card is declined.
After delivery
- Customers pay in a few taps with a card, Apple Pay or Google Pay.
- Every paid order is recorded exactly once, even if the buyer closes the tab.
- Receipts, fulfilment and your order alerts run on their own.

Want Checkout, webhooks and receipts set up properly? It is a fixed $690, live in 3 business days.
Standard online card rates as published by Stripe in September 2026. Premium and commercial cards, disputes, and other payment methods can cost more, and larger businesses can negotiate lower rates.
Everything included for $690
Stripe Checkout on your site
Hosted or embedded Checkout with cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Link, for up to 10 products or prices.
Server-side pricing
Checkout Sessions are created on your server from your Stripe prices, so nobody can edit the amount in their browser.
Verified webhooks
A webhook endpoint that checks Stripe’s signature and handles retries, so each paid order is recorded once.
Fulfilment
What should happen after payment happens automatically: a download link, account access, or an order in your database.
Success and cancel pages
A clear confirmation for buyers, and an easy way back if they change their mind.
Receipts and alerts
Stripe email receipts for customers, and an email to you for every new order.
Discount codes
Promotion codes switched on in Checkout and tested with a real coupon.
Test, then live
Every flow tested with Stripe test cards, including declines and 3D Secure, then moved to live keys together.
Handover
A short written guide, a recorded walkthrough, and 14 days of free fixes after launch.
Not included
- Subscriptions and recurring billing. That is the Stripe subscription integration.
- Marketplaces that pay out to sellers (Stripe Connect).
- A fully custom payment form. It is available as an add-on below.
- Registering for, or filing, sales tax and VAT returns.
- Accounting, ERP or inventory integrations.
What I need from you
- A Stripe account in your business’s name. I can walk you through activation.
- Access to your code repository, or admin access to your site and hosting.
- Your products and prices, or permission to create them in Stripe.
- A refund policy and support email on your site. Stripe asks for both.
How a Stripe Checkout payment works
Six steps from “Buy” to “Paid”. Step five is the one most do-it-yourself integrations get wrong.
- 1Customer
Clicks “Buy”
On your pricing or product page.
- 2Your site
Creates a Checkout Session
Your server looks the price up in Stripe. The browser never sets the amount.
checkout.sessions. create - 3Stripe
Takes the payment
Card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or Link, on Stripe’s page. Card data never touches your server.
- 4Customer
Sees your success page
A thank-you only. Buyers can close the tab before it loads, so never fulfil here.
- 5Your site
Receives the webhook
Stripe calls your server. It verifies the signature, then records the order exactly once.
checkout.session. completed - 6Your site
Fulfils the order
Sends the download or access, the receipt, and your order alert.
How delivery works
- Day 0
Order and brief
You order and answer a few questions. I confirm the brief and send the invoice. Work starts when payment lands.
- Day 1
Plan and set up
I review your stack, set up products and prices in Stripe, and post the plan to your portal.
- Day 2
Build
Checkout Sessions, the webhook, fulfilment and emails, tested with Stripe test cards.
- Day 3
Go live
We run a real payment together, switch to live keys, and you get the walkthrough and docs.

Stripe Checkout, Payment Links or Elements: which do you need?
Stripe gives you three ways to take a payment on the web. They all run on the same Stripe account and cost the same per transaction. The difference is how much control you get, and how much code you have to maintain.
| Payment Links | Stripe Checkout | Stripe Elements | |
|---|---|---|---|
| What it is | A shareable link to a Stripe-hosted page | A prebuilt payment page, hosted or embedded in your site | Payment fields you place inside your own form |
| Code needed | None | A little, on your server | A lot, front end and back end |
| Connects to your app | Manually, or through webhooks | Yes, through Sessions and webhooks | Yes, through Payment Intents and webhooks |
| Apple Pay and Google Pay | Yes | Yes | Yes, with more setup |
| Design control | Logo and colours | Logo, colours, fonts, fields | Full control |
| Best for | Selling one thing quickly | Most sites and apps | Checkout inside a custom flow |
For most businesses, Stripe Checkout is the right call. Stripe maintains the payment page, keeps adding payment methods, and tunes it for conversion, while your code stays small. Payment Links are perfect for testing demand, but they do not know who the buyer is inside your app. Elements makes sense when payment is one step of a bigger custom flow, like a multi-step booking form. It is available as an add-on.
What a production-ready Stripe integration includes
The Buy button is the easy 10%. The part that decides whether you lose money is everything around it: who sets the price, how your app learns a payment succeeded, and what happens when something goes wrong halfway.
- Prices come from your server. The browser sends which product, never how much. The server looks the price up in Stripe and creates the Checkout Session.
- Webhooks are the source of truth. Your app marks an order as paid when Stripe calls your webhook with
checkout.session.completed, not when the buyer lands on your thank-you page. - Signatures are verified. Every webhook request is checked against your endpoint secret, so nobody can fake a “payment succeeded” call.
- Fulfilment is idempotent. Stripe can send the same event more than once. Each order is fulfilled exactly once, keyed on the session id.
- Delayed payments are handled. Some methods, like bank debits, succeed hours later. Those arrive as
checkout.session.async_payment_succeeded. - Keys live in environment variables. The secret key never ships to the browser or into your repository.
export async function POST(req: Request) {
// The raw body is required to verify Stripe's signature.
const body = await req.text();
const signature = req.headers.get('stripe-signature') ?? '';
let event: Stripe.Event;
try {
event = stripe.webhooks.constructEvent(body, signature, process.env.STRIPE_WEBHOOK_SECRET!);
} catch {
return new Response('Invalid signature', { status: 400 });
}
if (event.type === 'checkout.session.completed') {
const session = event.data.object;
if (session.payment_status === 'paid') {
// Safe to call twice: fulfilOrder skips sessions it has already handled.
await fulfilOrder(session.id);
}
}
return new Response('ok');
}How much does Stripe integration cost?
There are two costs: the one-time cost to build it, and Stripe’s fee on every sale. Stripe charges no setup or monthly fee on standard pricing. In the US you pay 2.9% + 30¢ per successful card payment, plus 1.5% for international cards and 1% if currency conversion is needed. Use the calculator above to see your exact numbers.
| Option | Typical cost | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Do it yourself | Free, plus 10 to 30 hours | Fine for a side project if you know webhooks well |
| Freelance marketplace | $100 to $1,500, hourly or fixed | Varies widely. Often the button without the webhook work |
| This service | $690 fixed | Checkout, verified webhooks, fulfilment, receipts, tests and docs |
| Agency | $3,000 and up | Project management on top of the same work |
The build price is fixed because the scope is fixed. If your case needs something outside it, like Stripe Connect for a marketplace, I say so before you pay.
Six Stripe integration mistakes I fix most often
- 1Fulfilling on the success page. Buyers close tabs, lose signal, or never get redirected. Orders go missing. Fulfil from the webhook instead.
- 2Trusting the amount from the browser. Anyone can edit a request in their dev tools. Look prices up on the server.
- 3Skipping signature checks. An unverified webhook endpoint lets anyone mark orders as paid.
- 4Double fulfilment. Stripe retries webhooks until it gets a 2xx response. Without an idempotency check, customers get two licences or two shipments.
- 5Parsing the body before verifying. Frameworks that parse JSON automatically break the signature check. The handler needs the raw body.
- 6Leaving test mode half-live. Test keys in production, or live webhooks pointing at a staging URL, fail silently until a customer complains.
Quick self-check
Pay with the test card 4000 0000 0000 3220, which triggers 3D Secure, then close the tab on the authentication screen. If your app still records the order correctly once you complete it, your webhooks are doing their job.
Is Stripe Checkout secure and PCI compliant?
Yes. With Checkout, card details go straight from the customer’s browser to Stripe and never touch your server. That keeps you in the simplest PCI category, SAQ A, which is a short self-assessment rather than an audit.
Your side of security is small but important: keep the secret key server-side, verify webhook signatures, use HTTPS everywhere, and use restricted API keys when a service only needs to read data. All of that is part of the build.
What you need before we start
Stripe reviews new accounts before live payouts, so it helps to have these ready. None of them block the build. I can work in test mode while your account is being activated.
- Business details and a bank account for payouts, entered in your Stripe Dashboard.
- Clear product descriptions and prices on your site.
- A refund or cancellation policy and a way to contact you, both visible on your site.
- A statement descriptor, the short name buyers see on their card statement.
