Overview
Mosques, offices, and homes wanted accurate, beautiful prayer times on a screen without buying dedicated hardware or fighting clunky software. SalahClock turns any TV, tablet, or phone into a prayer-time display that opens from a single link and sets up in under a minute.
I built the whole product solo: the display engine, the dashboard, billing, and the edge infrastructure. It is a real, paid SaaS, not a side project, and it is live in mosques and homes today.
What the build involved
- Built a display that opens from one link on any screen, hardened for kiosk use with wake lock and auto-reload, from 360p to 4K.
- Auto-calculated prayer times from coordinates across five established methods, with community Iqamah overrides.
- Designed 18+ themes in 10 languages, plus announcement screens and auto-scheduled Ramadan and Eid countdowns.
- Wired Paddle billing and Supabase data behind a Cloudflare Workers deployment.
Challenges & solutions
Challenge
It had to run reliably on cheap TVs and kiosks that are never touched for weeks.
Solution
Wake lock, auto-reload, and offline fallbacks so a screen keeps showing correct times without anyone intervening.
Challenge
Prayer times must be accurate everywhere, across different calculation conventions.
Solution
Coordinate-based calculation across five methods (MWL, ISNA, Umm al-Qura, Egyptian, Karachi) with per-community Iqamah overrides.
